Cate Reynolds, age-17, Philadelphia PA (
sledhockeysweetie@hotmail.com)Ms. Reynolds started playing sled hockey for the Atlantic Hammerheads at age 10. She has been a
“Bug” for two years. She was invited to attend the USA Hockey National Sled Development Camp in
2006. Cate not only excels on the ice; she is a National Honor Society awardee and a Presidential
Scholar for 2006. She has received numerous academic and community accolades and completed
extensive research on “What is the effect of exercise on physically disabled people?” as a community
project. In high school she volunteered in many community, social and sport organizations including
the Community Service Corps, Irish Club,
Softball Manager, Spanish Peer Tutor, Yearbook development and is a school Newspaper:
Contributor. She volunteers at St. Francis Inn Soup Kitchen for six years, sometime even missing
hockey practice for events. Cate is an internationally ranked rower and volunteer with the Philadelphia
Rowing Program for the Disabled. She recently attended the US National Disabled Rowing Team
Selection Camp and hope to represent the US at the Paralympic level. Cate plans on attending a
university in the fall, majoring in exercise physiology/athletic training.
