ICE SLEDGE HOCKEY HISTORY (Facts from Norway) Ca. 1966/67 : A club-team from Stockholm, Sweden, tested out Sledge Hockey with a smaller size of goal, and without any goalkeepers. 1969 : A club-team from Oslo, Norway, tested out Sledge Hockey for the first time in March in Stockholm, Sweden. Between 1971 and 1980 they only had one or two games per year, either in Norway or in Sweden. But the two club-teams had no organized training. 1981 : Great Britain tried out Sledge Hockey for the first time in Norway. 1982 : A demonstration game consisting of players from Sweden, Norway and Great Britain was tested out during the World Championship in Winter Sports in Switzerland (Les Diableretes). Ca. 1982 : Canada started with Sledge Hockey, and very soon they had many club teams. 1986 : World Championship in Ice Sledge Racing, Ice Sledge Hockey and Cross Country Skiing were organized in Oslo, Norway. Norway, Sweden and Great Britain competed in the Ice Sledge Hockey Tournament (round robin). 1988 : International Games, Oslo, Norway, in May. Participating countries: Great Britain and Norway. 1989 : A National Team from Oslo, Norway, competed for the first time in a Sledge Hockey Tournament in Ottawa, Canada. Both nations competed also in Ice Sledge Racing. 1990: the 1stInternational Rules for Sledge Hockey were drafted from Canadian Rules 1990 : International Games in Sledge Hockey, Oslo, Norway. Participating countries: Canada, USA, Great Britain and Norway. 1991 : International Games, Oslo, Norway. Participating countries: Sweden and Norway. 1991 : World Cup in Sledge Hockey, Oslo, Norway.
